Working with FineReader Documents
FineReader documents make working with complex multi-page documents much easier. The original images, page structure, and program preferences are stored in a FineReader document. A FineReader document allows you to export results from specific pages rather than from all of the pages. When you are ready to resume work, you just need to open your saved FineReader document and export the remaining pages.
The pages of a FineReader document are displayed in the Pages pane. To open a page image, click its thumbnail in the Pages pane.

- Hold down Command or Shift on your keyboard and click the desired pages one by one.

How to renumber pages
In a FineReader document, pages are loaded in the order in which they are imported. After the import, all pages of the document are numbered. The number of each is displayed below its thumbnail in the Pages pane.
You can change the order of pages manually or with a special tool.
To move one or more pages:
- Select the pages you want to move and drag them to the desired position in the document. Their numbers will change accordingly.
- Select the pages you want to move and then choose the Change Page Order command in the Page menu or in the shortcut menu of any of the selected pages. In the dialog box that opens, type the number you want to assign to the first page in the selection and click OK.
The correct page order may be disrupted when you scan two-sided pages with the aid of an automatic document feeder or when you split facing pages. To restore the correct page order:
- Select the pages with the wrong numbers.
- Choose the Change Page Order command in the Page menu or in the shortcut menu of any of the selected pages.
- In the dialog that opens, choose one of the following:
- "Restore original page order after duplex scanning"
Choose this item if you first scanned all odd pages and then all even pages with the aid of an automatic document feeder and the duplex scanning feature. FineReader Sprint can restore the original page numbering for pages scanned in normal or in reverse order.
Important! You must select at least three consecutively numbered pages to perform this operation. - "Swap odd and even book pages"
Choose this item if you scanned a book written in a right-to-left language and then split facing pages without specifying the correct language.
Important! You must select at least two facing pages to perform this operation.
- "Restore original page order after duplex scanning"
- Click OK.
The original page order will be restored.
