FineReader Sprint Main Stages of Document Processing

Document images are converted to editable formats in four stages:

  1. Document images are imported

Before processing a document, the images of its pages must be imported into the program.

  2. Document structure is analyzed

Once the images are imported, the software automatically analyzes the structure and format of the source document. Areas with text, tables, images, and barcodes are detected on the images.

You may need to adjust the detected areas manually if the document has a very complex structure or if automatic page analysis has been disabled.

Be sure to select the right document language for your document.

  3. Document is recognized

By default, recognition starts automatically after the document structure is analyzed. If automatic recognition is disabled or if you have adjusted the detected areas or changed the document language, click the Read button in the toolbar. See Document Recognition for more information.

  4. Recognition results are exported

    To export the results:

    1. Click Export in the toolbar, or choose File > Export.
    2. Click on the desired output format and customize the export parameters.
    3. Click Next to go to the saving dialog. Enter a name for the document, location where to save the file, and select the desired file saving options. If you are exporting the results to PDF, you may wish to specify security settings. See Exporting Recognition Results for more information.

Tip: To start working with converted documents immediately after they are exported, select "Open document after saving" in the export dialog.
